ABOUT MARTIN CHASIN FINE ARTS
MARTIN CHASIN FINE ARTS, founded in 1973, is a source for British eighteenth and early nineteenth century sporting prints and paintings; and British (English, Irish, and Scottish) silver from ca. 1750 to 1831, the death of George III. Our inventory includes a wide selection of Irish eighteenth century cut crystal, which represents some of the best glass and crystal produced in Europe at that time. In addition, a major part of our stock includes a variety of British sterling silver hollowware and flatware. Our American silver is largely limited to Tiffany and Co. sterling flatware pieces and serving pieces, in a wide range of the company’s patterns.
Martin Chasin was educated in New York City and did his graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Oxford and the Free University of Berlin. Martin is a member of the New England Appraisers Association, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, London. He is the American President of the Friends of British Sporting Art, the American affiliate of the British Sporting Art Trust in Newmarket, England. He is listed in Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in American Art. He writes occasional reviews of art books for Apollo Magazine in England, and for the Library Journal.
In addition to our premises in Fairfield we exhibit in a number of art and antique shows, mainly on the East Coast.
We undertake appraisals of fine art, silver, furniture, and household effects.
We also liquidate assets and the contents of homes on behalf of attorneys, banks, and executors of estates.
We are pleased to undertake restoration projects on behalf of our clients and employ well-trained and experienced art conservators, framers, glass and ceramic restorers and silversmiths.
Martin Chasin Fine Arts, L.L.C. is interested in acquiring individual pieces as well as entire collections for our inventory.
